Starfruit’s aesthetic harnesses integral elements of collage, both visually and sonically, resulting in elaborate arrangements with moments of hectic free improvisation contained within elegantly organized orchestrations. Joseph is a quiet one and a deep one. When I listen to their music, or see their art, or read their words, it’s as if I can hear them speaking every language at once, and also as if I can see their reflection crystallizing shyly yet clearly in the spaces between the notes, the strokes, the words.

This album is stately, humble, demurely unfurling itself outside the boundaries of time.

Tatsuya Nakatani

 is an avant-garde percussionist, composer, and artist of sound. Active internationally since the 1990s, Nakatani has released over 80 recordings and tours extensively, performing over 150 concerts a year. His primary focus is his solo work and his large ensemble project, the Nakatani Gong Orchestra. He teaches master classes and lectures at universities and music conservatories around the world. Originally from Japan, he makes his home in the desert town of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. With his activity in new music, improvisation, and experimental music, Nakatani has a long history of collaboration.

Nakatani's distinctive music centered around his adapted bowed gong, supported by an array of drums, cymbals, and singing bowls. In consort with his personally hand-carved Kobo Bows, he has spent decades refining and developing his sound as an arrangement of formations of vibrations, incorporated in shimmering layers of silence and texture. Within this contemporary work, one can still recognize the dramatic pacing, formal elegance and space (ma) felt in traditional Japanese music.

 is best described as whatever music Caleb Cordes is making, which means Sinai Vessel has worn many different hats. For a period of time, Sinai Vessel was a three-piece band, charging ahead with Cordes’s howled vocals, crunchy electric guitars and broad angst on 2017’s 

 It was a critical breakthrough, so naturally Cordes disassembled the band, moved to Nashville in 2019 and decided to do a sonic 180. On 2020’s 

, Sinai Vessel was reintroduced as an indie folk project that had more in common with the sparse narratives of Allegra Krieger than the dense emo of the Hotelier. “It’s always been whatever my impulse leads me to do,” explains Cordes. “Because that’s been the precedent, it’s hard for me to change it.” 

Cordes started Sinai Vessel at 16, and the project remains the direct extension of his musical whims and emotional insights.

Las Nubes

 is one of the biggest rock 'n' roll attractions in the country. Over the past two years, they have amassed a large local following and their shows have a reputation as must-see spectaculars.Describing themselves as like "Menudo on drugs," Davila 666 combine Stooges-like garage rock fire with the occasional sugary pop melody. 

Their theatrical live show -- which includes themes, props, costumes, and dancers -- won them fans in the States when they toured with the Black Lips and the King Khan & BBQ Show.

 - After the 2019 release of their debut LP, “SMVT,” Las Nubes took a hiatus from releasing music to tour and participate in recording sessions all over the U.S. and Mexico. The group performed with artists like Shannon and the Clams, Jens Lekman, The Coathangers, Sheer Mag, Mark Sultan, Torche and Alice Bag.

An American singer-songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist, he's perhaps best known for his solo albums as well as for having been a member of the band Deerhoof between 2002 and 2006.

Rui Gabriel’s journey to become one of indie rock's most vibrant and perceptive voices is certainly unconventional. Born in Venezuela and raised in Nicaragua, the now-Indiana-based songwriter spent his 20s in New Orleans and playing in beloved bands like Lawn, where he’s a co-songwriter and co-lead singer with Mac Folger. While that band finds the sweet spot between sing-a-long power pop and bracing post-punk, Gabriel’s solo debut efforts use a lighter palate that combines ethereal pop with ‘80s synth textures, and slacker-rock charm. This is a testament to growing up and Gabriel’s disarming lyrical sensibility.

Lucas Abela (born 7 May 1972), also known by the stage name Justice Yeldham, is an Australian noise musician. He is most famous for creating an instrument made from a diamond-shaped pane of glass, fitted with contact microphones and attached to effects pedals. During live shows, he manipulates and breaks the glass with his mouth, often receiving cuts in the process and leaving his face and the instrument smeared in blood. NME described his live shows as "crossing the line between music and bloodsport". Despite being classified as a noise artist, Abela sees himself as an improvisational musician in the free jazz tradition.
