BLANKY embodies the languor left of a perfect day gone past. After listening to the Lawrence, Kansas based four piece you’re left with a residual feeling of warmth. Something similar to the lingering effect of a sunny yesterday. Their midwestern origins and minimalist compositions compliment one another quite naturally. Their music conjures up scenes of a stereotypical Kansas summer. Unending plains. Interstate diners. Smoky old pool halls and golden hour sunlight. While the soft/loud/soft dynamics of their songs may be a nod to likes of The Pixies or The Breeders, Blanky has avoided being pigeonholed to any one genre and have managed to successfully land upon a musical aesthetic which incorporates a myriad of underground sounds from genres including surf, new-wave, goth, western and dreampop. While the music can be easy listening at some moments and more dissonant at others, the lyrical narratives hold your attention the whole way through.

PILGRIM PARTY GIRL For 8 years, Abe Leonard and Hannah Eicholtz have been making lo-fi experimental pop music together. While their songs are warped and screwy, they keep lush pop melodies at their core. The four-track is a star contender in their make-up, as all of their songs are born out of it as they pass tapes back and forth to each other collaging and shaping layers of tracks into hypnotic strangeness.
